Abstract
This paper describes the possibilities of combining surveying measuring techniques with precise satellite and inertial navigation in the reconstruction of traffic accidents. A simulation of a cyclist’s collision with a passenger car is provided as an example. Topography of the accident scene, in addition to the type and condition of the road surface, was reconstructed by means of land surveying measuring techniques (eSURV system for 3D mapping of accident scenes). The parameters of the cyclist’s motion, including the path of the motion, were registered using expert equipment for testing and recording of vehicular motion dynamics with the support of precise satellite and inertial navigation. The advantages of combining advanced measuring techniques in traffic accidents and court experiments are discussed at the end of the paper.
