Abstract
This report sets out what driving dynamic data is already being stored in electronic trailer braking systems today (the manufacturer WABCO being used predominantly as an example). This data is easily accessible and has a surprising depth of detail. Virtually every well-equipped commercial vehicle workshop can read out the data. The following explanations represent the results of actual reports drawn up by the authors. In so doing they also touch on the scientific principles.
The results are taken from practice and are intended for practical application. The construction of truck trailers is such that the data can also survive serious accidents. It can also be consulted to verify alleged technical faults and in an accident situation can be taken to analyse the sequence of events to ascertain further information. The report does not claim to constitute a conclusive evaluation of the subject, but rather aims to illustrate by means of practical examples the possibilities of gaining data from existing systems. Suggestions and the discourse between colleagues can help to place the findings on a broader footing.
